WiFi technology is quite common these days for accessing the internet. Everybody must have used WiFi in their life but never wondered what this word WiFi stands for and how it works. Well, technically WiFi stands for Wireless Fidelity. WiFi, in general, has wide compatibility which is used in any system of any OS, any device and nowadays home appliances also use WiFi technology.
The area in which WiFi network is available is called Hotspots. Hotspot area can be anywhere, may be at your home, restaurant or any public places. The Hotspot area is created by a network adapter connected with wired Ethernet connection called Router. The router acts as a medium of exchanging signal in the form of the radio signal. It has both encoder (which encodes networks signal coming through Ethernet connection to required radio signal for transmission) and decoder (decodes radio signal send by the device and then transmit it via Ethernet connection ).
WiFi network operates by producing radio signal of frequency between 2.4GHz – 5GHz, based on the amount of data on the network. There should be an encoder and a decoder to send and read signal. This radio signal is transmitted, via an antenna, to a decoder known as the router. The router acts as a decoder. After decoding the data, it will be sent to the Internet through a wired Ethernet connection.
Similarly, in the second case internet signal is given as input to the router. The router encodes the signal to radio signal and sends the radio signal. The device connected to the router has a decoder which decodes the radio signal. This decoded signal is fed as the output to us.
So Router acts an intermediate between device and network connection in a hotspot region.
