The Venice of East-Udaipur

If you are planning to visit India, you should add Udaipur to your list. Udaipur is a beautiful city situated in Rajasthan state of the India. The city was founded by King Maharana Udai Singh in 1553. It is known as “the city of lakes”, “Venice of the east”, “the Kashmir of Rajasthan”, “most romantic city of India” and “city of dawn”. The city has royal past, white marble hotels, beautiful surrounding, and historical monuments which attracts people from all over the world. The best time to visit city is between October and March. There is so much to see in Udaipur like-

City palace
Before 1969 the museum was the home of king but due to necessity of money for maintenance it was converted into museum. It is the most visited tourist attraction and it is largest complex in Rajasthan state. City palace is almost converted into museum with collection of art and royal family belongings. The palace is decorated with mirror tiles, miniature paintings, and ornamental tiles.

Jag mandir palace
It is a hotel stands on an island in Pichola Lake and it is surrounded by white and black marbles. The entry of the palace is decorated by eight elephants carved in stones. The palace also have museum.jagmandir-udaipur

Saheliyon ki bari
means “garden of the maids of honor”. It is an ornamental garden with so many fountains, lotus pools, carved pavilions and ornate elephants. The garden is beautiful and best place for relaxing.

Lakes of Udaipur
city have so many lakes and the best one is Lake Pichola. It is surrounded by palaces, Ghats, temples, gardens. City also has artificial lake called Fateh sagar which was created by King Maharana Fateh Singh in 1678.

Bagore ki haveli
it is an ancient building on gangor ghat of Lake Pichola. The interior of haveli is finely done by colorful mirrors and marbles. The museum has more than 100 rooms with the collection of costumes of royals kings, modern art and so many stuff of Rajputs like jewellery, dice games, hand fans, copper vessels. In the evening there are stage shows of traditional dance and Rajasthani music.badore-ki-haveli-udaipur

Monsoon palace/ sajjangarh palace
it is situated at a distance of 9km from city Udaipur. It is called monsoon palace because the royal family favorite destination during monsoon season because it was on the hill top and the best place to view sunset. You can also visit the sajjangarh wildlife sanctuary.

Shilpgram rural art and craft complex 
it is situated at a distance of 3 km from main city. It provides opportunity to rural and urban artists to take part in workshops and demonstrate their skills and can sell their crafts to the visitors. If you want to learn about Indian culture this is the place you should visit. Vintage classic car museum- the royal vehicles of past and present are preserved which include 1934 Rolls -Royce phantom, Morris, octopussy and so many other vehicles.

Jaisamand lake
Lake was built in 1685 and it is second largest artificial lake in Asia. The dam on this lake is major attraction for tourist because it is about 1200 feet in length, 115 feet in height and width of 70 feet at the bottom. The lake also has seven islands and we can visit there by boat.
it was built in 15th century by the king. “The great wall of China”. The wall also covers the Kumbhalgarh national park. The national park has many endangered species like panthers and leopards, hyena, toddy cats, peacock and many more.
